Description of Project

Danley Middle School, Sheerness was built in 1911. In 2009 Kent County Council made the decision to demolish Danley Middle School in Sheerness. This was to bring the island up to date with the rest of the UK with the two tier system. Demolition works commenced in July to make way for the construction of a smaller school.

Scope Of Works

  • Asbestos removal
  • Soft strip of internal fixtures and fittings
  • Demolition of the existing single and double storey buildings located within an area of 35,728m2
  • Removal of car park and playground hard standing
  • Installation of dust suppression techniques to protect the neighbouring houses
  • Waste segregation
  • Working alongside the ecologist for the protection of nesting birds


There were several successes and achievements with this project:

  • The project was completed on time
  • The local wildlife remained undisturbed during the demolition process
  • All waste disposal was directed through our sister company, Pinden Waste Limited, with 95% recycling
  • Zero accidents / incidents
